Substance abuse is something that will likely affect all of us at one point or another. If you have never had an issue with substance abuse yourself, you probably know someone who has. For me, it was my brother, who has always been a good man who I care deeply for, but fell into a bout with depression a few years back and started drinking a lot and doing drugs. I love my brother a lot, and so the last thing that I wanted was for him to end up killing himself with his substance abuse. I decided that it was time to intervene and get him the help that he needed, so I began looking for a substance abuse treatment facility austin that I could send him to. Of course, I wanted a program that would be right for him, and so I did a lot of research in order to find a place that would cater their treatment to meet individual needs.
The next step was actually confronting him about the situation, which was the hardest part. I gathered a bunch of friends and family together, and we all explained that we were worried about him and his future. Needless to say, it was definitely an emotional moment and something that was difficult for all of us, especially him. However, by the time we were done with the intervention, he had agreed that he would be willing to get the help that he so desperately needed.
He recently left the facility that we sent him to, and he seems to be doing great. He keeps telling me how he has never felt better in his life, which is definitely encouraging. I really do hope that he stays away from drugs and alcohol, and I think he will.
